We have tried on a machine running Word 2010 with Windows 10 and it still works so it is an office issue, not windows, however we have found that if we untick the windows setting for "Turn on Clear Type", the checkboxes are okay, but that causes a different set of problems so our IT department does not want to change this setting. If I delete these and replace them with new checkboxes via Word 2013 they work perfectly but I really do not wish to have to edit over 200 precedents to replace checkboxes.
